Batman Beyond #2 1999

In Batman Beyond #2, titled "Ebony Tears," Terry McGinnis, as Batman, faces the shapeshifting villainess Inque. Inque is stealing precious items to finance a cure that would restore her human form. Batman tracks her to Gotham MedLabs, where she takes a serum. During their confrontation, Inque seemingly perishes in a fire she creates to escape. This issue is notable for continuing the early development of Terry McGinnis as the new Batman and featuring a key battle with Inque, one of his prominent rogues.
