Deadpool #1 1994

Deadpool #1 (1997) launches the Merc with a Mouth into his first ongoing solo series. Written by Joe Kelly, the issue sees Deadpool hired to extract a woman from a mental institution, only to receive a second contract to eliminate her. This woman is revealed to be Typhoid Mary, whose multiple personalities have conflicting desires. This comic is a key issue for collectors as it marks the debut of Deadpool's long-running solo title and features the first appearances of Blind Al and Cannon Fodder. It also solidified Deadpool's unique comedic voice.
