Fighting American: Rules of the Game #1, published by Awesome Comics in 1997, finds John Flagg retired on his Kansas farm. He is drawn back into action when classic villains Poison Ivan and Hotsky Trotski, now Russian Mafia hitmen, attack. This issue is notable for reintroducing revamped Simon & Kirby foes and showcasing Fighting American's shield with new spike-shooting abilities.
