Superman #164 2000

Superman #164, published by DC in October 1963, features "The Showdown Between Luthor and Superman!". Lex Luthor escapes prison and challenges a powerless Superman to a battle on a red-sun planet. Luthor becomes a hero to the planet's inhabitants, later named Lexor, who erect a statue in his honor, marking a rare compassionate moment for the villain. The issue also includes "The Fugitive From the Phantom Zone!" and is notable for the first appearance of the Lexorians.
