Leaving Singapore? What to Do With a Comic Collection You Can't Ship
Most people discover the problem about six weeks out, when the relocation surveyor walks through the storeroom, looks at the boxes and asks what's in them.
Comics are heavy. A standard box of back issues runs 15–20kg, and a real collection is several of them. Sea freight is slow and humid, air freight is priced by the kilo, and a shipping allowance that comfortably covers furniture starts looking very different once the books go on the scale.
So the collection becomes a decision you have to make on a deadline, usually while you're also managing a job handover, a tenancy, a school transfer and a flight date.
Your four options, honestly

Right if the collection is genuinely valuable and you're staying in the hobby. Watch two things: cost per kilo against the actual resale value of what's in the boxes, and humidity in transit — sea containers are brutal on paper, and comics that survived Singapore's climate for years can arrive foxed.
Store it in Singapore
A holding pattern, not a decision. You'll pay monthly indefinitely for something you can't access from another country, and you'll face the same choice again later with less leverage.
Sell it yourself on Carousell
Works if you have three or four genuinely desirable key issues and eight free weekends. It fails at collection scale for a reason worth understanding: buyers cherry-pick. Your best books go first, the rest sits, and you end up two weeks from your flight with a worse collection than you started with — the good books gone, the bulk still there. This is the single most common way expat sellers run out of runway.
Sell the whole thing at once
One assessment, one offer, one collection date, nothing left behind. Slower per book than a perfect Carousell campaign; far faster and more certain than a real one.

Timing
Eight weeks out or more — comfortable. Time to get a quote, think about it, and still ship selectively if you'd rather.
Three to four weeks out — the normal window. Entirely workable.
Under two weeks — message us anyway. We've done short-notice collections. It's tighter, but a collection sold in a week beats one abandoned in a storeroom.
The genuinely bad outcome is the one we see most: the collection gets left with a friend "temporarily," and four years later nobody knows what to do with it.
What we buy
Marvel, DC, Image and independents across every era — Silver Age through Modern. Key issues and first appearances, variant and virgin covers, complete runs, CGC and CBCS slabs, and bulk commons. Manga and Chinese-language titles too.
We also take books in poor condition. Detached covers and loose pages don't automatically mean zero — the title still matters. Don't throw anything out before it's been looked at; that's the advice we give every seller and it costs us money sometimes.
The one thing we can't take is heavily mould-damaged stock, which in this climate does happen.
